Florida Pool Leak Detection Pricing
These are approximate ranges based on current Florida market rates for a standard initial detection visit.
Pricing is set by the detection company and confirmed directly with them before any work begins.
| Pool Type | Approximate Price | What Is Included |
|---|---|---|
| Standard Pool | $275–$375 | Pressure testing, structural inspection, leak location, findings report |
| Pool + Spa | $350–$450 | Everything above plus spa pressure testing and fittings check |
| Complex or Multi-Feature | Varies | Water features, multiple plumbing lines, raised spas, suspected underground lines — priced per job |
|
These are approximate ranges for the initial detection visit only — not the repair. Actual pricing is confirmed with the detection company before anyone comes to your home. Pool Leak Fix does not bill you for anything. |

How It Works: Two Steps, You Stay in Control
Most homeowners feel overwhelmed when they suspect a pool leak. The thing that helps most is understanding
that you are only committing to one thing at a time.
The Detection Visit ($275–$375 for a standard pool)
A certified technician comes to your home, performs full diagnostic pressure testing, inspects the shell,
fittings, and equipment, and locates the source of the leak. In some cases — a cracked skimmer, a small
fitting leak, a patchable epoxy repair — they may be able to apply a temporary fix the same day.
You receive a findings report: exactly where the leak is, what caused it, and what a permanent repair involves.
This is all that is included in the detection fee. No repair work is performed without your separate
approval and a separately agreed price.
Your Options — You Decide
Once you know exactly where the leak is, you are in control. That is the real value of the detection visit.
- Have the detection company provide a repair quote at a separately agreed price
- Take the findings report and get competing quotes from other local pool companies
- Handle a simple repair yourself if it is manageable
three local pool companies and say “I have a confirmed leak in my light niche — what is your repair
price?” That is a completely different conversation than “I think I have a leak somewhere.”
You shop for the best price. You are not at anyone’s mercy.
How Billing Works
Pool Leak Fix does not bill you for anything. All pricing is discussed and approved directly
with the detection company — before anyone comes to your home. You are never committed to a repair until
you separately approve it and agree on a price.
What a Detection Visit Typically Includes
Usually included
- Full pressure testing of pool plumbing lines
- Structural inspection of shell, fittings, skimmer
- Equipment pad inspection
- Dye testing around suspected areas
- Verbal or written findings report
- Temporary patch in some cases (skimmer, epoxy-patchable fittings)
Usually quoted separately
- Permanent repair work
- Underground line excavation or deck lifting
- Return visits for additional line isolation
- Electronic listening on buried lines
- Spa or water-feature plumbing beyond standard scope
Always ask the detection company exactly what their quoted price includes before booking.
Two quotes at the same price can include very different levels of testing.
Pricing FAQ
Does the detection fee apply toward the repair?
This varies by company. Some will credit the detection fee toward a repair if you hire them for the work.
Ask before booking.
What if they cannot find the leak?
Ask about the company’s policy upfront. Reputable detection companies are transparent about what happens
if the visit is inconclusive — most will not charge full price without a definitive finding.
Is the pricing the same across Florida?
Major statewide providers tend to be consistent. Smaller regional companies may vary. The ranges here
reflect current typical Florida market pricing for a standard residential detection visit.
Can I negotiate the price?
Having good information helps. A clean bucket-test result, a documented drop rate, a noted stop level,
and photos of wet spots or equipment-pad drips can help a technician focus faster — which can affect
the scope and time needed.
What does a temporary patch mean?
For certain minor leaks — a skimmer crack, a small fitting, an epoxy-patchable area — a technician may
apply a temporary sealant the same day as the detection visit. This stops the water loss while you decide
on permanent repair. It is not always possible and depends on the leak type and location.
How much does pool leak repair cost on top of detection?
Repair cost varies widely depending on what the leak is and where it is. A simple skimmer repair is
a very different job than a buried return line under pavers. The detection visit gives you the information
you need to get an accurate repair quote — from any company you choose.
